Yes, the original S&M Bobbins, still available and still made by hand right here in Connecticut.
Available in short and long stem versions, these bobbins are distinctly different from most of the wire frame bobbins on the market. The solid frame fits in the hand comfortably and allows complete tension control. The stands upright on the bench between flies, a little thing but a convenience especially for the commercial tier. The additional weight in the bobbins frame helps to hold material in place on the hook between tying operations.
The long stem is ideal for streamers, saltwater flies and bass bugs. The short stem is great for smaller trout flies etc. Not only is this bobbin made in the good old U.S.A. but it is priced such that you can afford to have several on the tying bench for all of your threads.
We also have a hair evener that is a half open hair evener that is particularly convenient for buck tail. No more trying to get the long hair into the top of the hair stacker, just lay the stack of hair in hold with your thumb on the back and 3 or 4 fingers over the front and tap. then simply remove and start tying. This evener doesn't work as effectively on deer body as the conventional stacker, but is much faster and convenient for buck tail.
The threader is a more conventional wire threader with bead head.
